About Phoenix Multisport

Phoenix Multisport is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a supportive, physically active community for individuals who are recovering from substance use disorder and for those who choose to live a sober life. By participating in our physical, social and education programs, participants build confidence, self-respect, and community. Activities offered include climbing, hiking, surfing, boxing, running, yoga, CrossFit, road & mountain biking, and strength training. Through traditional fundraising strategies and revenue ventures, Phoenix is able to provide free programs for anyone with 48 hours of sobriety. Phoenix also partners with organizations that serve individuals with substance use disorders to provide health and wellness programming for their clients and to bridge their clients to our free community programs, where they can access long-term support for recovery. Phoenix currently operates in California, Colorado, Idaho, and Massachusetts.

Phoenix Multisport is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to develop and manage our Boston Chapter. The Boston Chapter Manager will work with the New England Regional Director to establish a sober active community in Boston and surrounding communities.

Position Summary:
The Chapter Manager will oversee operations for the Phoenix Chapter in Boston and evolve partnerships and programming that position Phoenix Boston as a hub of recovery within the city and the framework for New England. The ideal candidate will have program management experience and a background in fitness and/or adventure sports. A strong connection to Phoenix Multisport's mission is critical; preference will be given to those with personal experience in recovery from alcohol or a substance use disorder.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a larger team to build a robust sober active community throughout New England
  • Oversee a full array of Phoenix programs including Phoenix's free Community Programs, Enhanced Bridging (targeted programming for at risk populations, recovery coaching, and outreach), Volunteer Program, Workforce Development, Together Families Recover and Contracted Partnership programming with partner organizations.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Per Ignem CrossFit Gym Manager to oversee facility usage and maintenance.
  • Build partnerships to improve access to recovery support and treatment for those living in the greater Boston area
  • Oversee/manage general daily administrative needs and tasks of the Boston Chapter, including scheduling programs, events, and outreach activities, and ensuring that facilities and equipment are in functioning order
  • Supervise the program and administrative staff of the Boston Chapter including hiring, training, supervision, discipline and termination as needed
  • Analyze performance of chapter and programs, provide feedback, guidance and training to impact results
  • (In collaboration with the Regional Director) Formulate the chapter budget decisions and carry out the fund raising strategy for Boston.
  • Oversee the online presence (including both social media messaging and website maintenance) for the Boston Chapter
  • Work closely with other Chapter Managers to coordinate on Phoenix wide policy and procedure, learn from and offer advice to others in a collaborative manner.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Travel for meetings as necessary


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in a non-profit management role
  • Experience facilitating group fitness or outdoor adventure programs preferred
  • Experience with budgets and program management
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment, and proficient with software including word processing, spreadsheet applications and email
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery preferred
  • Knowledge and consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, management, customers, other governmental agencies, community members and the general public.
